I am fixin to head to Wal-Mart (pretty much the only store in east texas LOL) and I need something to get that will treat and prevent acne. I have tried Acne Free... it didn't work too well. I have tried Clearn %26amp; Clear spot treatment... it didn't work at ALL. I have tried most of the Neutrogena and Clean %26amp; Clear face washes but they just aren't effective enough. I have acne breakouts on my forehead, nose, and chin. It's not a lot.. I can cover it up with concealer, but it's just so annoying! So please let me know what has worked for you. Thanks! :)What is the best treatment for acne that you have tried (non-prescription)?
We have found that acne in general responds well to a home remedy taught to me by a friend from Guatemala:
At night before bed, pour about a Tbsp of sugar into the palm of your hand and add just enough lemon juice to make a paste. Massage the paste in a circular motion (not too hard, you don't want to abrade the skin!) over the affected areas to slightly exfoliate. Then, let the paste sit for about 30 seconds, rinse off and pat dry. Do this each night. For my son's very oily and football/baseball-sweat aggravated acne we switch the sugar to salt.
I can honestly tell you that he notices improvement the very first morning when he does this.
Hope this helps! At least it's not expensive to try : )What is the best treatment for acne that you have tried (non-prescription)?
Hope it works for you - good luck! : ) Report Abuse
I asked this question awhile back.
I found that if you're no longer a teenager, most of those Clean/clear products(and similar) don't work because its made for teenage skin.
Best I've found, is the clinque bar, and a twice weekly regimen of this stuff called ';Queen Helen';, sold at Sally's beauty. It's a mask, and I swear by it now. It's cheap too. :)
It hasn't corrected all of my pimples, but it has definately helped.
Good luck hon.
Try using Purpose gentle cleansing. This is from Johnson and Johnson. It is is oil free, hypoallergenic and will not clog your pores. My dermatologist told me to use this and I use it in the morning and when I go to bed.It has helped alot.
use proactiv. I've been using it for a while and it works great. i got free samples to last for about 4 months from this site, why not try it. http://funkurl.com/mkcx
Well you won't be able to find this at Wal-Mart but I've started using Clinique's Three Step Skin Care. I got mine from Macy's but any department store that has Clinique Cosmetics will have it. They'll ask you questions to help you figure out your skin type, dry to oily, oily, etc. I started using mine about a week ago and I've noticed a big difference. Like you I have break-outs, nothing major, just enough that my skin isn't smooth. But it's getting there!
