Should I stop using my acne treatment?

I've been using Acne Free for a while, and I'm not sure if its getting better or worse. I've been using the treatment on and off, but I'm trying to commit to using it this week, since I really don't have anything to do. I'm black (African American, brown skin) and from the distance, my skin looks okay, but close up, there's a bunch of small brown spots (from where previous acne had been). I'm not sure if the Acne Free is just adding to those spots, or if its gonna slowly make it better. Should I keep using it, or are these signs of breaking out?Should I stop using my acne treatment?
you say that you haven't used it continually -- so for you to truly know what will work/won't work for you, you should start by doing that... and depending on the treatment, it could take a few weeks to a few months to work .... sometimes it is normal to break out a little bit more before your acne clears up, but if you're worried about it, you should go see a dermatologist and perhaps see if s/he would prescribe something for you.

in the meantime, do a few things while you're waiting. find out what kind of skin you have: dry, combination, or oily. make sure whatever you're doing is for your skin type. make sure to use moisturizers even if you have oily skin so your skin doesn't dry out and get even more oily to compensate...don't wash/scrub your face too much, no more than twice a day, for the same reason. if you're embarrased about your scars, you can certainly use power foundation / cover up to hide those. makeup companies these days have special lines for african american skin tones, so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a good match ....

good luck and i hope this helps!Should I stop using my acne treatment?
If acne free was suggested to you by a dermatologist or skin care professional, I'd use the product as they told you to use it. If not, it might be worth trying out a different skin care product. A facial scrub, and moisturizer are two basic components. As far as the small spots you see up close, they seem like they are the small scars we all get from acne. You can rub vitamin E oil on these daily, or use a little bacitracin at night on them to help minimize and heal them up. Good luck!
If the product is causing more spots, then you need to stop using it. It can lead to major Acne.

If you really want to get rid of your spots use this product

It really helps :-)
OXY works really well for my sister, and she plays ringette, which is like hockey so she sweats alot, but it still works really well for her. If it's really bad acne, I suggest Triple Action.
If it aint serving it's purpose then stop using it, cause it may cause more harm than good.

  • What is the best lifestyle treatment for acne scars?

Hi, just wanted to know some effective hints on how I can help my acne scars to fade away without having to consult a dermatologist?

eg. sleeping more, drinking more water etc

thanks!!What is the best lifestyle treatment for acne scars?
well, it is best to take Zinc and keep out from the sun, sun causes the darkening of the scars.

Could you please read my description below regarding my treatment for acne?

    1. Basically i use dalacin t-topical solution on my face before i go to bed and take antibiotic acne tablets (tetrascyl 300) every morning to treat my acn. However today i bought benozly peroxide 2.5 and was wondering if i could use this aswell as using the other two products and if it will be bad using all three or any suggestions?

    2. If i use the benozyl peroxide and antibiotic tablet at night and the topical solution in the morning is this ok and good?Could you please read my description below regarding my treatment for acne?
You should give tea tree oil a shot. I had mild acne for a while and even tho I washed my face every night I still had acne. So I use tea tree oil and within a week my acne was pretty much gone except for a few spots here and there, which will fade soon too. And this helps with acne scars

Tea tree oil can be used for any skin type even if you have very sensitive skin. And in that case I would dilute the oil with either water or aloe vera gel, which you can get at any drug store.

There are only two downsides to tea tree oil and that is is that the smell is pretty strong, and it can dry out your face a little, which can be taken care of by using a moisturizer.

The oil can be found in any drugstore/grocery store/health store next to the finger nail polish remover.

I would recommend putting it on at night before you go to sleep.

If you have any more questions there are many websites about this product, or feel free to ask me.

Just some more info on it you don鈥檛 have to read this part if you don鈥檛 want

Tea tree oil is so good for your skin because it has antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties and stimulates the immune system.Could you please read my description below regarding my treatment for acne?
Honestly, the only thing that has worked for me 100% is laser treatment. I was totally skeptical at first. I had gotten laser treatment every other week for 6 months in 2005. I'm completely %26amp; totally clear ever since. It's amazing. Everything else is crap %26amp; a waste of money. The amount of money I've wasted trying out different products added up to more than the laser. I've gone to a dermatologist who prescribed me Doxicycline pills %26amp; gave me Retin-A which did NOTHING. Proactiv didn't work for me either. I hope you take my advice it's the only thing that works. Whenever I see someone with acne I feel like telling them =(

Benzoyl peroxide will only dry out your pimples and make them look flaky. Will make it look worse.

*** Word of advice-those pills you're taking are doing more harm than good. You shouldn't take any of those pills for acne!!! Trust me! ***
Call your dermatologist for this. The receptionist should be able to get you an answer to your question. I would not just start using it though being that you do have prescriptions already. This may make your face dry out and worse.

    GL
according to my doc, and from personal experience, using all 3 together is fine... although it's probably best to use different solutions/ creams separately (at different times of day). Hope this is helpful, and good luck
It might be alright ? Especially if it is drying your face out.

Only your face will give the best answer if an MD wrote out your instructions check with them though ? Altering steps to any acne system albeit from an MD or the systems from the store is why acne doesn't go away!
You should use accutane, it is the best way for you about it you can get information from here http://medical-service.notlong.com/?q=accutane%26amp;qid=20090608054136AAfSrol

Good acne treatment for sensitive skin?

I am allergic to benzoyl peroxide, and I have been using a Neutrogena rapid spot clear treatment for months now and have been getting no results. What is a good spot treatment that doesn't have benzoyl peroxide in it, but works well?Good acne treatment for sensitive skin?
Try an aspirin mask with honey or aloe vera gel mixed with it. Aspirin is technically ';salicylic acid'; anyway. Use uncoated aspirin. I have used it once so far, and it has helped a quite bit. Don't use it more than twice a week.Good acne treatment for sensitive skin?
I recommend you use a organic products that help you with your acne problems stop using harsh synthetic products on your face I recommend to use dermaE .com they have good products for sensitive acne skin they are gentle and they get rid of acne without the unnecessarily chemicals. dermaE.com.
its not a spot treatment but it works so well and its very mild. Clinique facial soap is the best thing i haver used. Its a bit more pricey then neutregena or clean and clear, but i think its worth it.

Is Hydrogen Peroxide a good treatment for acne?

I've been looking online for at-home acne cures, and one treatment I've been seeing a lot is hydrogen peroxide acne treatment. Would that be a good way to treat acne? How would I use it? Would I just apply hydrogen peroxide topically on my face? How often should I use it? Is it safe? Any other advice/suggestions? Thanks! Is Hydrogen Peroxide a good treatment for acne?

I have dark scars/spots from previous acne. I am tired of having to wear so much make-up to cover it up! I dont get acne that often anymore, but I do have oily skin. If you want to stick with DIY home treatments, I would suggest Olay Regenerist Microdermabrasion %26amp; Peel System at nights. Then finish off with Olay Daily Regenerating Serum and Night Recovery Moisturizing Treatment. Just because the skin is oily doesn't mean it doesn't need moisture. I found out that products like Proactive series are harsh over time. Now that my skin has changed after pregnancies, the Olay products have been much more helpful at fading out any blemishes and dark spots. Good luck to you!
Scars are hyperpigmentation of the skin. Go to a spa in your area with good reviews, ask for their website, and also seach them on the web, you can find reviews there. They most likely would have facials and spot treatment, recommeneded from the Esthetician for you. Dermalogica works for me for daily care, and they have spot treatment medicine also. Good luck!
maybe mederma might help?? it's for reducing the apperance of scars so i dont know why it wouldnt work on acne scars, too!!

What spot treatment for acne worked for you?

I have tried Clean %26amp; Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment it didn't work also Mary Kay Acne treatment Gel...and now I have Burt's Bees Herbal Blemish stick and it doesn't do much. But the main thing I would like to know is... what spot treatment works for you and how much it's it and were can i find it? A link would help too. Also what about a Clearasil spot treatment. Does that work?

Thanks for your help! What spot treatment for acne worked for you?
Get the Clean %26amp; Clear Persa-Gel 10. You can get it pretty much anywhere, I get mine from Target. It has 10% benzoyl peroxide, which seriously shrinks the pimple almost overnight. I rely heavily on this stuff hahaha. By far, it's the best spot treatment I've tried :) Good luck!

ps. It's about $4 (?) Something like that. What spot treatment for acne worked for you?
Ok first thing is the Burt's bees thing works you just need to keep it with you all the time and constantly apply it and when you apply it if it stings its doing its job. And only use the clearasil if you have dry skin because it makes your skin very oily. i am a dermatologist and i would recommend and Olay facial washes they will deeply detox your face and you can find them at your local wall-mart store. I would also recommend a simple hypoallergenic foundation from olay it works like a foundation but at the same time helps eliminate them and still makes you look beautiful. plus it will not make you break out and you can use it anywhere on your face, chest, neck. i recommend this to my patients all the time.
if you have severe acne, i seriously recommend going to a doctor. it took 2 years for them to find me a cream that worked, after having 5 different ones. the one that worked was a tablet called roaccutane.. its pretty severe, it made me come out in rashes and my lips and skin were RIDICULOUSLY dry.. but seriously, it has worked a dream. my skin now is totally clear, glowing.. amazing. if your skin is really bad, its DEFFO worth it :)
Clean and Clear advantage stick works great for me. Of course the results aren't instant or overnight but after a couple days my pimples are gone.

Also, clearasil acne cream works great.

You might be making your skin break out by using too many different products. Try sticking to one for about a week or two to see results.

incredibly, plain old toothpaste works well. dab a small amount of it on your pimples before you go to sleep (make sure you wait about 2 minutes to let it dry before laying down). you'll wake up and your acne will have dried up a little.

this method works after a couple of nights. you won't get any drastic results in one night unfortunately =/
My mom heard from 2 other people that pansy tea works. At first she had me drink it but later on she started dabbing the (wet) tea bag on my face and it's working. But drinking the tea also worked a bit.
